Electrical Protection Engineer
Description
We are looking for an Electrical Protection Engineer to support a quickly growing part of our business. You will report to the Lead Electrical Engineer and support technical projects from the enquiry stage, through technical execution to final delivery to the customer. The role is based at our offices in Tamworth, Staffordshire. Occasional UK and overseas travel will be required to visit customers.
About You
You will have a degree level qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and at least three years of relevant experience in electrical protection systems. You will also have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills along with good communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Full UK driving licence is essential.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Make site visits in the UK and occasionally overseas to maintain and test electrical protection relays and to commission newly installed protection systems using secondary injection test equipment. You will ensure compliance with the required standards and best practice.
- Work with other engineers in the company to assist in the design and testing of excitation control and synchronising systems. Training will be provided in this area if required.
- Write technical reports documenting the work completed and making conclusions and engineering recommendations.
- Write technical documentation including manuals, procedures, method statements and risk assessments.
- Make site visits to our manufacturing facility to test new electrical protection systems, excitation control systems and synchronising systems.
- Support with customer witnessed factory acceptance testing.
- Contribute to all aspects of the design process for replacing and modernising electrical protection systems. Including hardware design, software design and interfaces to excitation and synchronising systems.
- Review and interpret existing protection settings.
- Manage workload, prioritise, and operate efficiently to meet customer deadlines.
- Support the tendering process with technically innovate and competitive solutions.
- Work within the guidelines set by our ISO9001 accredited quality system to ensure all projects and business activities are delivered to the high standards and expectations of our customers.
- Attend training courses and conferences to develop and improve technical competence in the specialist areas that EES operates.
- Manage work load, prioritise and operate efficiently to meet customer deadlines.
