ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

The Electrical Engineer will be involved in all aspects of designing, commissioning and maintaining excitation control systems, generator protection systems and synchronising systems. The successful applicant will have a degree or equivalent in Electrical and/ or Electronic Engineering with at least five years excitation systems experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience with electrical power systems and controls.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the tendering process with technically innovate and competitive solutions.
  • Contribute to all aspects of the design process – hardware design, software development and PLC programming, component calculations and selection, electrical drawings, plant interfacing.
  • Write technical procedures and manuals to support the installation, commissioning and operation of EES equipment.
  • Perform risk assessments and write method statements for maintenance and commissioning works.
  • Work on customer sites in the UK and overseas to perform maintenance and commissioning of EES and other OEM equipment.
  • Use electrical test equipment and instruments to test and commission equipment ensuring compliance with the required standards and best practice.
  • Analyse and interpret excitation system performance data during commissioning and maintenance of excitation equipment.
  • Provide technical support to our customers over the phone and on site using a mixture of electrical engineering competence and practical skills.
  • Write technical reports for all projects documenting the work completed and making conclusions and engineering recommendations.
  • Work within the guidelines set by the ISO9001 accredited quality system to ensure all projects and business activities are delivered to the high standards and expectations of our customers.
  • Work with the rest of the team to identify potential new business opportunities and promote EES to existing and potential new customers.
  • Attend training courses and conferences to develop and improve technical competence in the specialist areas that EES operates.
  • Provide feedback to the business to drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage work load, prioritise and operate efficiently to meet customer deadlines.

ELECTRICAL & AUTOCAD TECHNICIAN

The Electrical and Autocad Technician will assist with the design, commissioning and maintenance of electrical control panels for excitation control systems. The successful applicant will have C&G / HNC / HND in electrical and/or electronic engineering with at least five years’ experience in industry. Knowledge of PLCs, AutoCAD and electrical schematics is essential, as is a willingness to perform occasional work away from home both in the UK and overseas.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to all aspects of the design process – hardware design, software development and PLC programming, component calculations and selection, electrical drawings, plant interfacing.
  • Use technical drawing packages (Autocad / Visio) to create general arrangement drawings and electrical schematics for excitation control systems.
  • Create parts lists, source components and select suppliers.
  • Manage the EES laboratory area and perform repair and maintenance duties on EES equipment.
  • Manage spare and stock parts holdings including goods inwards and outwards.
  • Write technical procedures and manuals to support the installation, commissioning and operation of EES equipment.
  • Use electrical test equipment and instruments to test and develop equipment ensuring compliance with the required standards and best practice.
  • Work within the guidelines set by the ISO9001 accredited quality system to ensure all projects and business activities are delivered to the high standards and expectations of our customers.
